Food Beverage and Agriculture Sector Appoints New Co-Chair
TEMPE, ARIZ., – August 7th, 2012 – The Food Beverage and Agriculture sector, the largest sector at The Sustainability Consortium, representing over forty-five percent of the categories being covered by TSC’s Sustainability Measurement and Reporting System in 2012, has appointed a new sector co-chair. Jennifer Luchte of Monsanto will join Sandra Vijn of the Innovation Center for US Dairy to help lead the sector as it completes the designated work for 2012 and looks to 2013. Luchte’s other responsibilities will include; assisting in communication with the Board of Directors and advising the Working Group Director. “I am honored to have been elected by my peers for the Co-Chair position of the Food, Beverage and Agriculture sector working group of TSC. I have a passion for working with diverse groups to find innovative ways to feed a growing world while protecting natural resources,” said Luchte. “I look forward to working hard with the sector working group to identify sustainable solutions throughout the food value chain.”
Luchte serves as the Corporate Responsibility Manager and Sustainable Agriculture Policy Manager in the Sustainable Ag Policy and Partnership team at Monsanto. She represents Monsanto in strategic external alliances around sustainability issues, manages internal strategy development on elements of the sustainable agriculture platform, and leads Monsanto’s sustainability reporting efforts, among other things. Luchte has been active in TSC since 2010 and she is particularly interested in finding multi-stakeholder solutions to sustainability challenges in the food chain. “It will be a pleasure to work with Jennifer in her new role as Co-Chair of the FBA Sector as we continue to develop the Level 1 SMRS dossiers, Category Sustainability Profiles, and Key Performance Indicators in the FBA Sector, said Sarah Lewis, Working Group Director.
