Danone Joins The Sustainability Consortium
TEMPE, ARIZ., – October 16th, 2012 – The Sustainability Consortium, an independent global organization that creates sustainability standards for consumer products, is pleased to announce the addition of Danone to its growing membership roster. Danone will participate in the Food, Beverage and Agriculture Sector Working Group, which is The Consortium’s largest sector containing 45 percent of the categories being covered by The Sustainability Consortium’s Sustainability Measurement and Reporting System in 2012.
Danone, founded in the 1960’s, is the parent company of the more familiar Dannon Company which operations in the United States and was founded in 1942. Dannon is a leading producer of yogurt, producing and selling six million cups of yogurt per day. Today, Danone is focused on increasing their global presence with emphasis in; health and vitality, dairy products, bottled water, baby nutrition and medical nutrition. Both organizations are committed to social responsibility and Danone was recognized as a leader for its contributions to nutrition and health and was ranked best in class in 2008 by JPMorgan & Insight Investment.
