ARIZONA, USA, – June 11, 2013
– Olivet is one of the newest members to join the recently launched Clothing, Footwear, and Textiles (CFT) Sector Working Group within The Sustainability Consortium.

The CFT sector working group launched in November of 2012 in Fayetteville, Arkansas and joined eight other sectors all working to create Category Sustainability Profiles (CSP), Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and Dossier’s for consumer product categories within their industry. The CFT working group is currently focused on product categories such as nylon, polyester, rayon, and cotton clothing. Olivet will also contribute to the Plastic Materials Dossier. Once complete, communication of the impacts of plastics will be standardized across all different product categories within The Consortium’s Sustainability Measurement and Reporting System (SMRS).

“Olivet is excited to join The Sustainability Consortium. By working together with other industry experts, we will both contribute to and benefit from expanded knowledge of standards that better improve our supply chain as well as the environment.” Collin Muldoon, Olivet International Sustainability Lead.

In October of 2012, The Sustainability Consortium launched an office in China, which will focus on research in Clothing, Footwear, and Textiles; Electronics; and Toys.

“We are delighted to have new participants in the Clothing, Footwear, and Textiles Sector Working Group. As we grow the sector and continue our expansion into China, members like Olivet will play a key role in helping us identify important issues within the textiles supply chain and strategies for addressing those issues,” said Dr. Sarah Lewis, Working Group Director at TSC.

Olivet along with over 100 other member and guest organizations recently attended The Sustainability Consortium’s Spring Member Summit in Atlanta. Participates attending cross-sector workshops as well as working group meetings.
