APL Logistics Joins The Sustainability Consortium
APL Logistics aims to incorporate TSC tools and activities into larger sustainability strategy and to focus on supply chain optimization and reduction of air freight.
SCOTTSDALE, AZ, March 1, 2018 – The Sustainability Consortium (TSC) announced today that APL Logistics has joined as a member, joining over 100 TSC members working to create more sustainable products for a more sustainable planet. TSC translates the best sustainability science into business tools that are used all over the world to create more sustainable consumer products.
APL Logistics is a U.S. $1.7 billion global supply chain services provider that designs and operates smart globally integrated supply chains. They combine origin and destination logistics solutions with transportation services across all modes and regions of the world. They will be focusing their work with TSC on supply chain optimization including supply chain transparency, transportation and logistics, climate and renewable energy and labor rights. Additionally, they will use TSC tools and our member network to participate in discussions on the reduction of air freight.
Euan Murray, TSC Chief Executive, states, “We are thrilled to have APL Logistics as a new member to TSC. Understanding the global impact of retailer demand planning on freight and transport is essential for making sure that we’re working towards more sustainable supply chains. APL Logistics’s expertise and experience in this area is extremely valuable. We look forward to working with their team in the coming year.”
APL Logistics focuses on helping their customers achieve Corporate Social Responsibility objectives by reducing their impact on the environment. Their engineers help assess supply chains with tools that help customers reduce their carbon footprints. As a TSC member, they will be studying the accuracy and consistency of demand planning tools across retailers.
Bill Villalon, President of APL Logistics sees sustainability as an increasingly integral part of core business operations, “the evidence is overwhelming that corporate responsibility and sustainability will be major issues in 2018 and beyond. We want to be at the forefront of this discussion, and where possible, to lead the discussion in select areas like demand planning.”
