The Sustainability Consortium Welcomes Asia Pulp & Paper
One of the world’s largest paper companies
joins The Consortium that drives consumer
product sustainability.
Tempe, Ariz. – (July 29, 2013) –The Sustainability Consortium (TSC) is pleased to welcome Asia Pulp and Paper Group (APP), one of the largest paper companies in the world, as the newest member of TSC. The Sustainability Consortium brings together large corporations from all over the world, to work collaboratively to improve consumer product sustainability.
Asia Pulp and Paper will be the newest member of The Consortium’s Paper, Pulp, and Forestry (PPF) Working Group. The PPF sector working group, similar to the other eight industry sectors, collaborates to create standards for sustainable products in their industry. The PPF sector working group has issued recommended standards for products that include toilet paper, copy paper, and lumber.
“We’re pleased to join TSC to work with others in our industry to promote sustainable forest management principles and to ensure that no deforestation fiber enters the pulp and paper industry.” said Aida Greenbury, Managing Director of Sustainability for APP.
APP, along with more than 100 other member and guest organizations, recently attended The Sustainability Consortium’s Spring Member Summit in Atlanta in May. Participants attended cross-sector workshops as well as working group meetings. Members will be gathering again in October for the fall Member Summit.
“Industry leaders like Asia Pulp and Paper are critical to the success of our Consortium and our Working Groups. These key participants can help us identify the most important opportunities in the industry and how we can use them to improve the sustainability of the supply chain,” said Dr. Nicole Hardiman, Senior Researcher, Paper, Pulp, and Forestry at The Sustainability Consortium.
